We did the Framework Review in May. I honestly wasn't sure what I'd get from it — I thought it might just tell me things I already knew. But the report surfaced a few things about how we divide tasks that I hadn't seen clearly. One of those things, we changed within two weeks. Simple shift, but it's made the mornings noticeably calmer.

Process Strengthening — we worked on our invoicing and job handover process. Both had been causing small arguments for a while. The sessions were practical, nothing fancy. Hakim asked the right questions and didn't waste time. The written summary was useful. I'd say four stars — the invoicing improvement took a bit longer to settle than we expected, but it did settle.

We're in our eighth month of the Standing Companion arrangement. It's hard to explain what the value is unless you've experienced it — having someone who knows your business well enough to notice things without you having to explain the whole history every time. It's a relief more than anything else. Meetings are relaxed, notes are clear, and I feel less alone in the decisions I'm making.

I came to them with a specific problem — my staff didn't know who to go to when I wasn't around. Small business problem, but it was causing daily friction. The Framework Review took two weeks and cost RM 355. The report was short, honest, and pointed to exactly what I needed to address. I've recommended Kukuh Bina to two other business owners since.

Process Strengthening for our student enrolment and class scheduling. Both were a mess before — manual, duplicated, inconsistent. After the four weeks, we had a cleaner flow that my admin staff actually understood. Four stars because implementing the changes took more effort than I expected from my side, but the directions were sound.

Six months into Standing Companion. The quarterly summary is something I look forward to — it's a short document, but it reflects on things that happened over three months in a way that I couldn't do myself because I was too close to it. Hakim is a good listener. He doesn't push, but he does ask the right questions at the right time.

A food stall expanding to a second location
Framework Review · 2 weeksChallenge
The owner was about to open a second stall but had no written record of how the first one operated. She was worried about handover — her husband would manage the new location, but she couldn't clearly explain what she did every day.
What We Did
Through two conversations and a review of her daily notes, we mapped the actual operating structure of the first stall — supplier routines, prep schedules, staff responsibilities — and noted the points where clarity was missing or assumed.
Outcome
A short written operations reference that her husband could use to orient himself. The second location opened two months later. Her words: "I didn't know how much I was keeping in my head until I had to explain it to someone."
A small workshop with billing disputes
Process Strengthening · 4 weeksChallenge
An automotive workshop was experiencing regular disputes between what they invoiced and what customers expected. Quotes were verbal, there was no standard for add-ons, and the owner was spending hours each month resolving disagreements.
What We Did
We looked at the quotation process, the handover between workshop and front desk, and how additional work was communicated to customers. Two sessions across four weeks — the first to understand the flow, the second to walk through specific options for steadying it.
Outcome
A revised quotation format and a simple verbal confirmation step before any additional work began. Disputes dropped noticeably in the first month. The owner estimates it recovered several hours per week that were previously spent managing unhappy customers.
A professional services firm navigating growth
Standing Companion · 12 monthsChallenge
A three-person consulting firm was growing steadily but the founding partner felt that the team's sense of shared purpose was drifting. Roles were unclear, priorities were set informally, and the pace of new work made it hard to pause and review the structure.
What We Did
Monthly meetings focused on different parts of the business across the year. Early months on roles and decision-making. Mid-year on client onboarding and project handover. Later months on reviewing what had changed and preparing for the next stage.
Outcome
By the end of the year, the team had clearer roles, a simple shared system for tracking priorities, and a quarterly check-in format they've continued to use. The founding partner renewed the Standing Companion arrangement for a second year.
